This is the hope chest that my student Nick recently completed using a stunning array of timber from Anagote. The box features hand cut dovetails and a resin inlay in a top with quarter sawn Silky Oak, hence the ray figure. The carcass is made using quarter sawn NG Rosewood with a “bees wing” figure. Inside the box is a set of Silver Ash trays which also has fiddle back figure and the Black Walnut pins were handmade. The trays are lined with orange leather also from a local supplier, John at Hide Leather. This project not only shows a high level of skill from a student but also showcases local Marrickville businesses. Thank you to the boys at Anagote for their help in directing me to such wonderful boards.
